IHL Commissioner Glenn Boyce

Aims focus towards connecting business leaders to colleges

By Becky Gillette, Delta Business Journal, Feature Article, June 9, 2016. Dr. Glenn Boyce, Mississippi Commissioner of Higher Education, has quite a few accomplishments under his belt to show for his first year in office. That includes partnering with the Mississippi Research Consortium, the Mississippi Economic Council, the Mississippi Development Authority and the Mississippi Economic Development Council to launch the Mississippi Business Engagement Network (MBEN), which is designed to connect business leaders and economic developers with all of the resources, experts and research capabilities within Mississippi’s four research institutions (Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi).

“We believe that creating, enhancing and sustaining partnerships between Mississippi businesses and public universities will foster a more prosperous Mississippi,” Boyce says. “In order to facilitate these partnerships, we have created as a key part of MBEN a website that serves as a portal to the wealth of university assets housed within Mississippi Public Universities. The site includes information on universities’ research capabilities and the institutes and centers housed at the universities.”
