Mississippi Make It In America hosts reshoring event in Tupelo

(Ridgeland, Miss.) – InnovateMEP Mississippi announces the Reshoring Opportunities Workshop, a Mississippi Make It In America (MMIIA) event for manufacturers and economic developers July 23 and 24 at the Itawamba Community College Belden Center in Tupelo.

Make It In America is a national program that awarded competitive grant funding to establish a statewide initiative for Mississippi’s manufacturing industry. The mission of the program is to train workers in advanced manufacturing skills and help manufacturers strengthen their supply chains by reshoring jobs and suppliers back from overseas.

The Reshoring Opportunities Workshop will focus on how to create jobs in Mississippi by replacing foreign suppliers with domestic suppliers and/or bringing production in‐house.

The workshop is a luncheon event that is free to attend and repeated both days from 10:15 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. It will cover concepts and trends in reshoring and will also introduce the “Total Cost of Ownership” tool developed by the Reshoring Initiative, which companies can use to analyze and compare overall costs of manufacturing in the United States versus overseas.

In addition, morning and afternoon breakout sessions are offered for OEM and supplier companies to meet and work with the MMIIA team in identifying opportunities to strengthen their collective supply chains. Interested companies are encouraged to schedule a time to meet during these sessions.

Companies interested in reshoring, local and regional economic developers, educators and workforce trainers are encouraged to attend. For more information regarding the luncheon workshop or to schedule a breakout session, please contact Jill Sellers at jsellers@cavse.msstate.edu or 601-407-2746.
