Innovate Mississippi and W.K. Kellogg Foundation Seek ‘Emerging Solutions’ to Respond to COVID-19

[Jackson, Miss.] The “Emerging Solutions” project, funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and managed by Innovate Mississippi, would like to hear your ideas about how technology or other new products or services could push Mississippi toward the best possible response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Innovate Mississippi will help develop the most creative ideas into solutions that make the people of Mississippi better off after the pandemic.

“Our conversations early in this pandemic with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation focused on the hope that there would be areas of positive impact if we could predict what enabling solutions would move us forward,” said Tony Jeff, CEO of Innovate Mississippi. “We are so thankful that they were able to fund the development of solutions that can have a positive impact even in these difficult and changing times.”

“We want a huge funnel of ideas,” said Dr. Henry Jones, Director of Research Development and Scientific Entrepreneurship at the University of Southern Mississippi. “If there are any Mississippians who have been thinking about a concept that sounds like a fit for Kellogg’s challenge, we’d like to know.”

Jones, Jeff, and Mississippi entrepreneur Clark Love head a team that has already been getting ideas from around the state. Still, they want to hear from as many people as possible.

“If there’s an emergency room worker, retail cashier, or school custodian who has read about or brainstormed something that would make their lives safer, we’d like to know about it,” Jones said.

As ideas come in, the team hopes they become products deployed in Mississippi, and ultimately, they could lead to new Mississippi-based businesses and jobs.

If you’ve got an idea you’d like to discuss with the team, visit Innovate.ms/solutions and fill out the quick contact form with your information and your basic idea. If your idea looks like a fit for the project, we’ll get in touch to talk about it with you in more depth.
