Conference on Technology Innovation to feature Polly Dement, author of Mississippi Entrepreneurs

(Ridgeland, MS) –Innovate Mississippi will host the 16th Annual Conference on Technology Innovation November 10-11 at the downtown Jackson Marriott, as a keystone event of November again being declared by Governor Phil Bryant as Innovation Month in Mississippi.

“For the last 15 years, we have gathered the innovation community together at our annual Conference on Technology Innovation,” said Tony Jeff, president and CEO of Innovate Mississippi. “This year, we are particularly excited to have so many of Mississippi’s accomplished entrepreneurs together under one roof, with several on the agenda as speakers.”

The conference begins Tuesday, November 10, with the annual Company & Investor Spotlight event, held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and will feature startup pitches from Mississippi technology and innovation enterprises and information about private equity investing presented by angel investors. The Sponsor & Speaker Reception will be held from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, November 11, the conference begins with a breakfast program at 8:00 a.m. featuring Mary Peavey, president of Peavey Electronics Corporation, who will share how the company blazed a path to success to become one of the world’s largest makers and suppliers of amplifiers, musical instruments and professional audio systems. Also, Nathan Edwards, the newly-named president and publisher of The Clarion-Ledger and Mississippi Media will share his vision of innovations in the newspaper industry and what that means for Mississippi. A variety of panel discussions and sessions will follow, covering topics such as future tech trends; marketing on a budget; finding funding that fits your business’s needs; and more.

Polly Dement, author of Mississippi Entrepreneurs, will serve as the keynote luncheon speaker. “The wisdom of the 85 entrepreneurs whose stories are told in Mississippi Entrepreneurs runs wide and deep,” said Dement.  “At Innovate Mississippi’s conference, we will take a look at some of the shared traits and challenges of these passionate, visionary, risk-taking Mississippians.” The attending entrepreneurs featured in her book will also be recognized and honored during the program.

“Anyone interested in entrepreneurship – or interested in being more innovative in whatever kind of business they are in – will definitely find the content, the networking and their experience at the conference to be extremely valuable,” said Jeff.
