Innovation-led Economic Development Program for Choctaw, Montgomery and Webster Counties

Innovate Mississippi announces it is collaborating with The Board of Supervisors in Choctaw, Montgomery and Webster counties in an effort to lead a comprehensive approach to regional, innovation-led economic development for the tri-county area.

To utilize the region’s collective resources in a collaborative effort to ultimately create jobs and meet the needs of the available workforce, the respective presidents of the Board of Supervisors for Choctaw, Montgomery and Webster counties signed a resolution in July 2013 forming The Regional Economic Enterprise of Mississippi.  The goals of “The Enterprise” include recruiting industrial development, supporting existing businesses, marketing the tri-county region and educating communities on the economic development process.

“Innovate Mississippi is excited to be working with The Enterprise to bring our proven Innovation-Led Economic Development (ILED) model to the region,” said Tony Jeff, president and CEO of Innovate Mississippi. “Economic development is synonymous with ‘competing for new businesses’ in many areas, but communities around the country willing to supplement their normal economic development model have found that an ILED model, which builds businesses from within the community, is more sustainable and a lot more cost competitive. We are excited to put our experience to work on behalf of The Enterprise and the communities represented.”

Innovate Mississippi, a nonprofit organization with the mission to drive innovation and technology-based economic development for the state of Mississippi, has been tasked in the formation and implementation of effective and robust development strategies focused around existing business, natural resources, transportation, entrepreneurship, retail partnerships, recruitment, infrastructure, social quality of life and education.
