Billy’s Original Foods Welcomes Back Teachers and Administrators in Vicksburg

BILLY’S ORIGINAL FOODS DONATED MORE THAN 1,100 SURPRISE LUNCHS TO ALL VICKSBURG SCHOOLS TO WELCOME BACK TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Startup food company Billy’s Original Foods welcomed back all teachers and administrators in Vicksburg and Warren County with a surprise lunch to help them end the first week back at school. The company delivered on Friday, August 12, 2016, more than 1,100 lunches to teachers, teachers’ aids, and school staff and administration in 21 schools of the Vicksburg Warren School District, Vicksburg Catholic School and Porters Chapel Academy.

“We wanted to do something nice for teachers of our local community,” said Billy Lieberman, president and head chef. “Teachers go unrecognized sometimes and this was our way of showing our appreciation. They do so much for our kids and we wanted to do something for them.”

The donation was the idea of a company employee’s a 9-year-old daughter, who wanted to surprise her teacher with a gift on the first day of school. The company decided that all teachers in the local community should get the surprise. The company delivered two of Billy’s Original Foods flagship items that are already on store freezer shelves – the Original Lasagna with Meat & Sauce and the Original Meatballs with Sauce & Cheese.

Billy’s Original Foods, a spinoff of the locally celebrated Billy’s Italian Restaurant in Vicksburg, Miss., was founded in 2015.
